Local Aging and Disability Care Specialist Earns Distinguishing Accreditation

Fairfield County, CT: Leslie-Alin Tewes, of Fairfield County, has earned the highest level of classification according to the standards of the Aging Life Care Association – the nationally recognized association for professional geriatric & disability care managers.  This comes after receiving her most recent accreditation: national certification from the National Academy of Certified Care Managers (NACCM). Tewes also holds a Master's of Public Administration degree specializing in Health Care, a Graduate Certificate of Advanced Studies in Gerontology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Social Work and related interest in Music Therapy.

As an aging and disability care specialist and patient advocate, Tewes works with people in Westchester, Putnam and Fairfield counties who seek help with aging relatives, as well as people with disabilities. Her most recent accreditation elevates her to an even higher level of expertise – Advanced Professional – among other medical advisors in this specific field.
 
“Many people wonder and worry about how to support and care for aging or disabled relatives,” Tewes says. “They need pertinent, unbiased information and guidance, a health care insider with expertise.” Tewes has years of experience guiding clients who are often overwhelmed by complicated health care systems. She advocates for the elderly and disabled to find the best short- and long-term care based on their unique needs and preferences. This often includes identifying appropriate in-/out-patient care from hospital to home or advocating on behalf of patients to optimize their experience and outcomes during various points in their health care.

Tewes is also an active volunteer in local communities and professional associations. She is a member of the Patient/Family Advisory Council at Danbury Hospital, as well as the professional community representative on the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) Steering Committee at Danbury Hospital. Her professional memberships include APHA (Alliance of Professional Health Advocates) and Aging Life Care Association among several geriatric associations. She is a member of the Estate Planners Association, the co-president of the Ridgefield Advisory Council, a board member of Rides for Ridgefield and Vice President of Philanthropy for the National Charity League – Nutmeg Chapter.
