Ridgefield Launches Holiday Season With Four Artful Markets
In what has become a much-anticipated tradition, the picturesque village of Ridgefield begins the holiday season the week before Thanksgiving with the opening of four holiday markets: ARTique 2017, Lounsbury House Tree Festival, the Guild of Artists’ Festive Home and the Ridgefield Women’s Club Craft Fair.   At each market visitors can enter a drawing for a $100 Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate.

ARTique 2017 gets under way Thursday, November 16, with an opening night reception and sale, complete with music and refreshments, from 6:30-8:30 at St. Stephen’s Church, 351 Main St.  This popular art boutique will exhibit works in clay in a range of styles by members of Connecticut Clay Artists (connecticutclayartists.org) and objects by guest artists in other media (including fused glass, weaving, forged iron, leather, wood, photography, jewelry and silks). ARTique continues November 17-18 from 10-5.  Admission: no charge

The 18th biennial Festival of Trees (lounsburyhouse.com), at the Ridgefield Community Center, 316 Main St., opens with a Preview Party the evening of Thursday, Nov. 16 (7 p.m., $50 per person, by reservation). The historic mansion will be adorned with creatively decorated Christmas trees, almost all available for purchase.  All proceeds benefit the Community Center.  Hours: Nov. 17, 10-8; Nov. 18, 10-5; Nov. 19–11-4. Admission: General public -$10; seniors -$5; children ages 6 to 12 - $3.

Ridgefield Guild of Artists (rgoa.org) presents its 13th Annual Festive Home, which opens  with a Preview Party on Friday, November 17, from 6-8:30, at 34 Halpin Lane.  Be the first to see the holiday showcase and enjoy a celebration with delicious nibbles, holiday cocktails, music, and more.  Admission is $20.  Festive Home continues with free admission November 18–December 23, Tuesdays – Sundays, with extended shopping hours, 11–5.  It is closed November 22-23 for Thanksgiving. The space is also available during the run of the event for holiday gatherings. 

Ridgefield Woman’s Club 47th Annual Craft Fair (rwc-craftfair.com) takes place Saturday, November 18, 10-4, East Ridge Middle School, 10 East Ridge Road.  This juried craft show features  100 vendors and their handmade or hand-embellished crafts, including pet and children gifts, food gifts, home décor, holiday gifts, knits/quilts, jewelry, pottery, and much more. Refreshments and light lunch are available for purchase.  The Ridgefield Women’s Club designates all proceeds to support local scholarships and community programs. Admission: $8; children under 12 – no charge.
